I'm so excited, last month I entered The Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. They opened it up to General Fiction and Young Adult Fiction and accepted 5000 in each genre. I entered in YA. Today was the date they posted their cut down to 2000 - I'm made the cut. Next cut posted 3/22 - This is exciting!

Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated on friend Maya Angelou's birthday on April 4th, 1968. Angelou stopped celebrating her birthday for many years afterward, and sent flowers to King's widow every year until Mrs. King's death in 2006. - Biography.com

Greetings fam, heres another little known black history fact: Jazz, an African–American musical form born out of the Blues, Ragtime, and marching bands originated in Louisiana during the turn of the 19th century. The word Jazz is a slang term that at one point referred to a sexual act.

Greetings fam! Okay here's my contribution to 'little known Black History facts.' As a child Muhammad Ali was refused an autograph by his idol, boxer Sugar Ray Robinson. When Ali became a prize-fighter, he vowed never to deny an autograph request, which he has honored to this day.
